ABOUT TOMMY & SANDY

Tommy and Sandy Shuttlesworth

A little about me (Tommy), I was raised in South Texas along the Mexican border. My uncle had a tackle shop, and I spent all of my time with him learning how to build and repair fishing rods. For ten years I was a fishing guide for Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder. I also at that time guided for Bass on Falcon Lake in Zapata, Texas.

I have built fishing rods for the late Ann Richards, past governor of Texas, Randy White, of the Dallas Cowboys, and Charlie Waters of the Dallas Cowboys; past member of Rod Crafters. I love building rods, have studied rod building and fishing all of my life. I caught my first bass when I was 4 years old.

I try not to brag about my Custom Rods to much, but you will not find a Custom Rod Builder that has built just about every rod blank there is in existence since the early '60's. I repaired my first rod in my uncle's tackle shop. I built my first complete rod in the middle '60's, it was a surf rod blank, was called a Calcutta Cane, this was about the time I fell in love with rod building. I have seen it, built it all just about, and I love fishing too! I have caught my share of Bass, Speckle Trout, Redfish, all kinds of Snappers. I have fished in all kinds of saltwater fishing tournaments and won a few Bass Tournaments. These life experiences have really made me the Rod Builder that I am today. I promise, you will not find a better Rod Builder that knows how to build Bass Rods, Redfish Rods, or Speckled Trout Rods better and more sensitive. I take a lot of pride in my work, and will build you a very good rod.

Now about me (Sandy), well, I don't build fishing rods, but have lots of them in my life. Tommy and I have been married for almost 5 years, and we enjoy watching fishing programs, and NASCAR races. I have been in the professional field for almost 38 years, and I love what I do. My full-time job is processing home loans for a local bank, and At night, I handle the books for "TOMMY'S PRO CUSTOM FISHING RODS". I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and have lived here all of my life except for about a 3 year stint in Germany. I am very proud to say that I have three grown children, and two grandsons that I adore very much. Tommy says Birmingham, Alabama is suppose to be the Bass Capital of the United States, but he thinks Shreveport, Louisiana area is close to being the Bass Capital.
